The cost would be trivial and would only require interfacing with
sourceforge as well as community self-governance through minor porting
of algorithms already implemented on several of google's other
community services.

Oh well, was worth a shot.  I'm not gonna spend more time at a dead
end by writing a fully-researched account of why I'm right on this,
partly because I'm not getting paid for it, and partly because I'm
actually quite hoping I'm wrong.

Still, I do think that there's a need, though I guess it's not as
readily apparent to others as I had hoped.
