I'm curious about the auto-sync capability in Android and the G1.

Could someone elaborate on this for me. What data is synced from the
phone to Google? Is it strictly the Contact, Calendar, etc? Or does
it include all the settings from every application?

For example:

- Dialer app: do the records of every number I dial, and every call I
receive, get sent to Google?

- Email (POP3/IMAP): if I put in settings for a private email account
(e.g. with an ISP or corporate email server), do the settings get
copied into Google's cloud? Does Google receive a copy of the
password for my IMAP server?

- Maps/location/GPS: is this data sent to Google, even if I am not
using maps?

Is there some way to audit each application to see what is synced, or
to audit the whole sync process?

Is there some way to see what data Google is holding? I can see the
contacts data from my phone when I look in GoogleMail on my PC, but is
there some way to see all the other data that has been sent from the
phone to Google?
