They've been reforming for a while. S60 FP5 is the first product of that
process and sets the groundwork for moving forward. 

As S60FP5 is already available on Nokias 5800 is going to be powering the
N97 and Samsung Omnia HD in the near future I can see it being a seriously
appealing alternative.

Actually they are trying to reform themselves, philosophically probably as a
response to Android, but that will take some time.
