There were a lot of ideas discussed in the android-discuss group. In particular looks for posts dated around Feb - Apr 2008 (ADC1 timeline).
Some ideas: To send out emergency signals during disasters, and when networks are down. To sense emergency situations and send out distress calls. To locate and track kids. To go green. Share rides, locate public transports etc., To save time. Find nearest restaurants and reserve tables etc., Location based contextual information. Get relevant stuff as you move around your location. Social Networking - discover exciting new networks in your location. Travel - Use camera, sensor, google earth etc., and find out real geo location infos. Given Android capabilites like bluetooth, gps, accelerometer etc., you have to think a bit and see how these capabilites can be applied in alleviating real life problems. As i said, search the android-discuss group for more ideas. Good luck. take care, Muthu Ramadoss. http://linkedin.com/in/tellibitz http://androidrocks.com - Android Consulting.
