I think it's an amazing improvement, leaps and bounds ahead of the
original release. I think that the horde of ho-hum reviews for the G1
would have been entirely different had Cupcake been available back in
November and December. Many of the hacks that people created for
rooted phones are no longer necessary, since they are built in to the
OS. The soft keyboard is very nice, but it takes some getting used to
(I keep missing the desired keys because I am not accurate enough at
putting my fingers in the right place--I have the same problem on the
iPhone).

The good news is that Cupcake exists and is still being improved as we
speak. This bodes well for the future of Android and phones that run
it. The bad news is that the main players--T-Mobile and Google--still
really suck when it comes to marketing.
