I think it would help Android yes. My personal feeling on touchscreen
is that its great but because of my finger size (!), I don't design
any clickable object smaller than 50x50 pixels and most virtual
keyboards have 32 x 32 at best (looking at chompSMS) which means I
keep getting the wrong key.

This was one of the big things I didn't like about iPhone. Also I
don't like the closed nature of Apple which your experience with them
highlights.

Although the reality even with Android is that once Cupcake gets
released, most apps will just use the Cupcake onscreen keyboard rather
than use alternatives.
