My G1 dev updated to cupcake yesterday, just an android update this time. (In dec/jan got both a android and bootloader update)
The camcorder app is a good addition, and some colour schemes have been changed. (Browser icon changed, black apps background screen changed to grey) Other good additions include the onscreen keyboard with a very good text prediction dictionary (and a cool tutorial), also the screen orientation will now auto rotate. Only problem is with SMS/text messages. They they had said they had imrpoved text scrolling through previous messages, but in fact it is noticably slower with messages taking a few seconds to load :-( , where as previously it was almost instatanious. The other problem (mine is a US dev handset) is that the SMS/text messaging application has removes any +1 international number prefixes!! (i.e +1-123-1234 are shown in the application as just 123-1234) This means that I cannot reply to ANY US text messages I get! I have to create a new message every time. It's unfuriating. It doesn't seem to matter what changes you make to the persons contact details, the messaging app just refuses to acknowledge the +1 international prefix. Also, the SMS app constanly hangs with the OS asking you to wait or force close. This happens with EVERY message. Other than that one (large IMO) problem, cupcake seems to be a good update with some nice new features --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
