Unfortunately that is not the case. Most banks in the UK are not supported. There have been quite a few discussions about this in the past.
Open the Android market and scroll down for ages until you find an app listed in £, those are the ones I can buy, and I have to find them that way because you can't filter for your currency. I believe Germany may be next to get paid apps, personally I think they're better off without them. There's a good chance many of them will need to search around for apps in €, and additionally the UK will have even more apps to scroll past.
