Hi

I just got an HTC Magic (Vodafone UK model, but purchased handset-only
at Phones4U in the UK). Here are a few observations that might be of
interest if you are thinking of getting one:

- Smaller and thinner than I was expecting. Somehow, the pictures
haven't done it justice - I was expecting something the size of the
old HTC XDAs, but it's very nice and slim. The finish is very good as
well - it's really quite an attractive phone
- Trackball is nice and big. It also flashes when the phone rings(!).
Wonder if that's under SDK API control?
- The Google account sign-in/create is presented when you first boot
the phone, but unlike the G1 it is optional - you can skip it and use
the phone without signing in. If you try to use an application like
Android Market, then you are prompted at that point to sign-in/create
- It was not SIM-locked to Vodafone. I'm using it with an O2 SIM
- Latitude is enabled
- Application rotate on sensor is enabled by default

Happily, all my apps (built for 1.1 SDK and tested on G1) installed
and ran without any issues, so that's encouraging.
