Don't know where you learned to run a business, but you have the
organizing group (in this case the developer), and you have the
various contractors (artist). You pay the developer. The artist is in
this case employed/contracted by the developer. When you hire a
plumber to fix your toilet, do you directly pay the mexicans who work
in the factory in mexico where the bowl was manufactured? Or do you
pay everything to the plumber? You might want to reconsider your
contracts with your subcontractors if you have periodic payments --
pay one lump sum and be done with it. Otherwise you'll have to look
into the royalty schemes used for book publishers -- again, you buy
the book from the bookstore, the bookstore buys the book from the
publisher, and the publisher deals with the raw materials, printing,
advertising/distribution, and author royalties.
