Two ways;

I don't understand what you mean by "if it is partitioned or not on a
G1?"... It is definitely "partitioned"... all DREAM devices ship with
the same partition layout.

If you want more space for installations, install a "cyanogenmod"
firmware and make a second (ext2/3) partition on your sdcard.
