Yes, 1.6 is the number for the Donut release - this has been known for
about a month :)

Note: at the time when Romain and others were saying "Donut != 2.0",
we could also have said "Donut != 1.6" as _at that time_ there was no
version number at all associated with Donut, and we didn't know that
Donut was going to be 1.6. Similarly, there is currently no version
number associated with Flan, that's why we use codenames.

With 1.5 (Cupcake) being the latest stable version available through
the Android Open-Source Project, it is a credible option for device
manufacturers: there's no schedule concern, the feature set is known,
the code has been receiving minimal changes for several months, so
right now working on cupcake-based devices eliminates a lot of risks
for a device manufacturer.
