I can say that it wasn't easy and cost us a lot of resources and head-aches. Getting the tax issues sorted was really the biggest part. George and I did a lot research and worked with some great lawyers in digital content that helped us beyond measure. In fact, we had to completely re-write our billing platform to handle the tax issues the lawyers addressed before the launch of our paid application support, so we got to do it twice. The opinion we got was that the way Google does it's distribution, and by pushing sales and VAT tax collection onto the dev, Google could be challenged by the IRS or tax authorities and they could have a tough go of it. Archos, which copied Google's agreement, is going to be in the same boat. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with so many states scrambling for money. Getting global billing for a new company our size wasn't easy either. It took a lot of convincing to overcome the barriers and make the risk guys happy.
