I haven't had a chance to use this yet, but having read the official
blog post I had some thoughts...

It looks as though results from different apps will be mixed in
together (e.g. a music result, followed by a contact result, followed
by another music result etc). This seems confusing to me.

Wouldn't it make more sense if there was a single result (the best
match) for each app/type and then saying something like "15 more
contacts..."? The order in which these types appear would depend on
what the user chooses most frequently.

Example results for typing in "rose":

1. Contacts: "Rose Smith" (1 more result)
2. Web Search: "Rose - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" (317,000,000
more results)
3. Music: "Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction" (0 more results)
4. TheFreeDictionary: "Rose - 1. A member of the rose family..." (3
more results)

So a bit like how you get one result per website when using Google
Search...

Typically when a user types something, he knows whether he wants to be
searching contacts, web or the dictionary etc. In this case he should
be able to narrow down the search accordingly. For example, he starts
typing "rose" and at any point can click on the "Contacts" type to
only show results from the Contacts. So the other types would no
longer be searched for and would disappear from the view. Instead the
contacts results would be expanded visually so that there is one
contact result per result list item.
