Hi all, I'm new to this group.
I have an HTC hero and I wonder how does android support hardware
ccelerated video decoding.
My question stems from the fact that the phone gets pretty hot while
playing h264 streams, which leads me to suppose software decoding, and
is quite limited on what video formats and sizes it plays, often
resulting in choppy media experience.

On the other hand, other phones ie the HTC touch hd, while running on
the same exact platform (qct msm720x), are reportedly capable of
playing h264 streams bigger than wvga resolution and at higher
bitrates in a lag free fashion. It can be seen on YouTube too.

So ... How does Android fare?
