Life was good with my Australian G1, until it broke and I replaced it
with a T-Mobile G1.

I was surprised to learn that the T-Mobile G1 had T-Mobile apps like
MyFaves bolted into the Android o/s that cannot be removed.

Shouldn't a Google Experience Phone be plain Android? Or at least be
able to get back to a plain Android phone? Like if you buy a Windows
based Dell, you can always uninstall all the Dell s/w to get it back
to plain Windows.

And yes, I did get bill shock after the MyFaves app sent 670 SMS
messages @ 0.30c = $200 in the first month.

On a side note, can anyone point me to instructions on how to root the
G1 that has Donut (all the tutorials I can find are for Cupcake).

Thanks.
