HTC also sells the Magic without Google experience, as far as I know in the
asian area, so that might have been a normal htc magic, not vodafone magic
or t-mobile mt3g.

And that would mean, no app store, no maps, no gmail. I guess this is what
it was. I agree on the laggyness of the magic, if it stilll runs the 1.5
version, try getting it updated to 1.6 - after that update i experienced a
big speed boost and am now happy with the speed.
