The last time I updated my wifes G2 (maybe 6 weekss ago)  I had to
download the update from the T-Mobile website,
as far as I know they are not pushed out OTA like the G1.

Due to this it seems that T-Mobile like to sit on the update and carry
out some kind
of "extensive" testing before they dare release it on their website.
