I have had my Nexus One now for a while and I am finding that I can use the softkeypad OK. I am not sure what my problem was initially. I don't know if you fixed it on the "first time" entry of a password but I have noticed that a checkbox now appears on other times that a password is requested. So I am assuming that this request has been implemented.
