I know a lot of people are frustrated with the Android Market. I'm not sure
how effective petitions are (we've seen a lot on these lists). If anyone is
interested, I'll be launching ZappMarket this weekend. It's a complete
Market, including client, that's focused on understanding and managing users
(with a focus on paying users) - I'd like it to supplement the Android
Market, where possible.

If you have problems with the Android Market, please sign up for the beta
after the official announcement and be part of improving the experience.
I'll respond to any and all suggestions and comments and keep everyone
informed as to what's on the roadmap. Everything is open: how comments and
ratings should be handled (or even if they are needed), statistics and
graphs that would be useful, DRM, how to contact and manage end-users,
adding trial buttons to application pages, how to manage users that have
bought through the Android Market, etc.

This system can do a lot, like match content to country, operator, device;
it just depends on the feedback from developers as to how this should be
managed.

Initially paid apps will not be part of the launch. Developers of free
applications are welcome to go ahead and put up their wares and to start
giving feedback on what they want improved. Next week, for select developers
of top-paid applications (send me an e-mail if interested), I'll launch some
experimental features to get feedback on.

I'll send out the official announcement with all the relevant information
for signing up within the next day or so.

Thanks,
Shane Isbell
