I try and make two videos (at least), one that is a basic quick overview that grabs users...two minutes or less. Mix of emulator (on screen recording), screenshots, effects, voice overs and real live device (with camera)
Then a couple videos for 'hard-core' interested users, which detail more settings, advanced features and more. Depending on how deep your app is, this may vary from quick how-tos, example or full run throughs. These should be more than 2 minutes but less than 8 (definitely less than 10). For these I often use a real device, but use lots of editing to make it more professional than many walkthoughs/ demos/unboxings. Also don't make it boring. Use effects and humour to catch people.
