At the moment, there is a huge hole in the WiFi implementation in android because of the lack of proxy support. This effectively precludes use of android on many corporate networks, universities, schools etc., due to the requirement in many organisations for internet traffic to go via a proxy.

It's been open on the tracker for 18 months, but is still sat at new (not even reviewed)? It seems like such a critical failure, particularly if we want Android to gain more acceptance.
