As an application developer, you cannot override the user's selections
as per default applications.

If there are two home applications installed, then when the system
tries to launch HOME, the USER will be presented with a choice and an
option to set the choice as default. There is NO WAY to force a
default and that is a good thing. Regardless of YOUR intentions, there
are certain unfriendlies out there who would force their home as
default and hide all installed applications -- making it impossible
for the user to actually use their phone for anything besides the
nefarious purposes of that application developer.

Your only option for this is to build your own system image that
includes your own home *instead of* the default. And this, of course,
could only be installed on unlocked phones.
