I am mostly updating my contacts from the Google web interface but
last week I encountered a strange behavior with my Motorola Milestone
on Android 2.1. The battery of my phone was low so the auto sync
feature was turned off by my profile application. At some point I was
talking with a friend and he game me is new cell phone number which I
updated directly in the phone's contact.

Later when I connected the phone back, the auto sync feature went back
on. Maybe an hour later I went to check if the update was propagated
back to Google so I opened the web interface and I saw that the old
phone number was still there. So I took the phone to check the number
and I saw that it was also the old number.

So what happened is that the Google updated back the old phone number
to my device even if I had changed it. Can anyone explain if this is
want I should have expected and why? If this is a problem, is there
any solution?

Thanks.
