Note: this is mostly directed at Google Employees, though I don't really
expect any official response.

Take a look at "My Maps Editor by Google" on the market. It's down to 3.5
star rating probably due to the mass flood of 1-star ratings from people
complaining that it doesn't work on Froyo.

Out of curiosity, I did a fresh install on my Nexus with 2.2. Sure enough,
while it doesn't FC, all it does is flash for a second before closing
itself. Based on how far back the negative comments go, this has been the
case since Froyo was released.

The market page does not have a website, but an email address,
[email protected]. For fun, I sent them an email complaining
about the problem. I got an auto-response:

Thanks for your feedback. This is a general email address for all Google

I actually did that and searched for "My Maps Editor" and the top 3 results
are people complaining about this problem. None have an answer from anyone
from Google.

First off, how is it that an official Google app has not worked on a stock
2.2 device since day one of release? That's simply embarrassing, not only
for the My Maps developers but for Android platform as a whole. How are
people going to take Android seriously if the company developing the
operating system can't get their own apps to work on it?

Did no one test this app on Froyo? Did no one notice this blatant issue? Did
no one care it was a problem?
Does no one on that team check the feedback every once in a while or the
"support" forums?
It's like two months worth of complaints and no one can fix this problem?

We all know that official Google support is pretty much non-existent, but
not even for the official apps?
Not even for major issue that renders an app completely unusable to anyone
running Froyo?

*Seriously?*
