After no small amount of finagling with driver .inf files, I'm now able to get my Archos A32 (running Android-2.1-update1) talking to ADB, Eclipse, and DDMs under 64-bit Win7. Almost everything seems to be working fine. I can run and debug code from Eclipse, look at running processes, and so on. So far I'm delighted with it, since at about $150 it's about the least expensive way I could find to do Android development on a real device.
However, the DDMS screen capture and file explorer functions don't work. If I start a screen capture, I see just a black rectangle. Pressing "Refresh" doesn't change anything. Similarly, if I try to use File Explorer, all controls are greyed out. I have, of course, selected my A32 in the DDMS window before trying these things -- I do see its log and process info in the bottom of the DDMS display. These functions don't work with the A32 connected to DDMS or Eclipse on my Mac, either, so it seems more likely a limitation / bug in the device than something platform-related. I've asked this over on ArchosFans too -- no reply yet. Does anyone here know of any limitation on the A32 (or, I'd guess, any of the Archos gen 8 devices) that would keep it from doing screen caps and file exploring from DDMS? DDMS "About" reports "Revision 7", if that matters. Thanks! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
