1. Web access integrated on Google Search like this (http:// www.bing.com/visualsearch?setflight=vstest&setmkt=en-us&g=wp7#). 2. Standard UI components like UITableView on iPhone. It would help to standarize the Android GUI, which is deperately needed. The GUI on Android apps varies all too much and a simple thing like a table has no standard looks (at least nobody is implementing the standard). 3. GUI guidelines. Should we have a tab bar at the bottom? Everyone has it but no standard component exists that let you have the tabs at the bottom. Both iPhone and WP7 has extensive GUI guidelines, but the Android guidelines are very brief and not very specific when it comes to implementing navigation (tabs, navigation header, back button in GUI ++) 4. Adaptive bitrate for video. WP7 and iPhone has this and this prevents apps that does streaming video to be performing well.
I have done apps on all platforms and I really like Android as a platform, but I am much more productive on iPhone (Monotouch) and WP7 due to the standard GUI components that are part of the SDK for the platforms. I was really surprised at how quickly you can build a app on iPhone that looks really good compared to doing the same on Android. Let's hope Google puts some more resources into the GUI designer tools for Android and maybe bundles some standard components that we can use after they are done with Gingerbread. The app I have been part of developing on Android has > 1 million DLs on Android and about 20 on WP7. Looks aren't everything I guess :-) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
