I've just been contacted by Verizon about being part of their Smartphone storefront.
I'm having trouble seeing the value. I see that this Droid phone I'm looking at has Verizon where it should say 'My Apps' (no wonder some people can't find 'My Apps'). If I'm on this list, it would give me more exposure, but only if I am in the top 5. These are the benefits they told me: o It’s Free – No Testing Fees o It’s Fast – Our Goal is to place your application in the App Store within 14 days of Submission; Abbreviate Click-Thru Agreement o Carrier Billing – Your applications are billed directly to the Customer’s Bill; No credit cards, PayPal, etc. o 70/30 Revenue Share – 70% Developer / 30% Verizon o Hands-on Experienced Content Programming Team – Get the visibility you deserve, not just a quality-crushing algorithm! o Content Programming and Store continuity across multiple platforms (BlackBerry & Android) o Integration with Network API’s! Messaging & aGPS o Detailed submission guides online and forums monitored by our support staff o Subscription Billing Am I underestimating the value of all this stuff? Of course, I don't have any trouble seeing the value if Verizon wants to license my app to put on all their Droids. They haven't asked about that.
