You will engage with developers in developer forums, mailing lists, by IRC, and by email. When's the last time you saw a Developer Advocate on ANY of the forums, "water cooler" or no? I know Romain, Dianne, Xavier, and others certainly contribute - but they're platform engineers, not advocates. I mean one of the folks on this list: http://code.google.com/team/ This isn't an attack on you, Al, nor on Reto - not personally. But it is a real sore point with me. Google's other APIs have developer advocates who frequently post on the official forums. It remains a mystery why Android, arguably their leading API of all, doesn't rate this.
