Sure, he's busy. We all are. But I'd say that this IS part of his job. From 
that link you posted:

As a Developer Programs Engineer, your daily job will involve engaging with 
developers around the world to help them be successful as they develop their 
applications. You will engage with developers in developer forums, mailing 
lists, by IRC, and by email.

When's the last time you saw a Developer Advocate on ANY of the forums, 
"water cooler" or no? I know Romain, Dianne, Xavier, and others certainly 
contribute - but they're platform engineers, not advocates. I mean one of 
the folks on this list: http://code.google.com/team/

This isn't an attack on you, Al, nor on Reto - not personally. But it is a 
real sore point with me. Google's other APIs have developer advocates who 
frequently post on the official forums. It remains a mystery why Android, 
arguably their leading API of all, doesn't rate this.
