If only I could buy all the tablets out there :-) Guess I should have passed on the Xoom... > In terms of apps and OS, I like Android / Honeycomb far better than > Ipad2/IOS. Some apps are certainly more polished and evolved on IOS, > however that is just a matter of time. That's what I thought, but then they really have to mark the apps as tablet apps. I have an app with over 1 million downloads that is ranked #9 in it's category and it looks far from good on the Xoom but as all apps are defaulting to supporting x-large then my app is in the same spot on the Xoom as on your Evo. That's just wrong :-) >The OS itself irritates me compared to Android. I'll likely develop for both, >but Android first and probably deeper. Well me too at first, but now that they copied Android notifications (they actually made a very good copy...) I don't have so many issues with my iPad2 anymore. It's still a pain to develop on it, but when I am taking off my developer hat I see things differently :-) But to summarize by main criticism is: - Market doesn't allow you to look for tablet only apps - GUI design guidelines are missing so everyone goes overboard with customizing standard features like the actionbar on tablets and the tab-bar on Android 2.x. If someone can get a hold of the one responsible for making the standard tab bar unable to dock to the bottom of the screen, then please let me know. I really really want to know the decision behind that choice. - The Xoom's battery drains 10x faster than the iPad and it's "impossible" to figure out why. Doing a restore or uninstall all apps seems like the only solution I am sure that it will be fixed eventually and Android tablets will be great, it just annoys me that it seems like nobody is taking design guidelines seriously. Look at the all documentation that Apple and Microsoft have on how to follow the standard design and compare that to what Google has written. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
