There's less of a barrier for trolls (i.e., jerks whose life sucks and
they want to share their misery with you) when the price is free. Even a
dollar keeps out a lot of people who have nothing better to do than
download tons of apps and add one-star ratings to ones that don't give
them everything they want. For free. And if the entertainment value of a
free game doesn't last them for weeks, that's still a problem.

I mentioned this before, but the only rating my paid app has that isn't
four or five stars is a one-star review by someone who downloaded it and
immediately refunded it, and the comment was that "15 minutes isn't long
enough for me to review it." As if I have any say over the Google refund
time period.
