Hmmm....I wonder what's to prevent people from just "Googling" the
answer(s)?
Though a coding test works for me. As long as it doesn't require me to
have memorized the more obscure corners of the Android SDK; since I do
NDK development, I don't know more than the minimal necessary from the
main SDK.

Or do enough diverse coding for various platforms that you never
actually memorize anything. I always code with references on hand.
