Android desperately needs to add a group MMS messaging support to the stock messaging apk, a la Verizon Messages (and iPhone and BB). Currently, if one receives a group MMS, it shows up in that individual contact's thread and not in the original group thread. If you read the message info, you can see that the message was sent to multiple people. If you reply to the message in the individual contact's thread, it will be sent to only that contact as an SMS. When sending out a group message to multiple people, an individual SMS is sent to each contact, not as a group SMS. When your contacts receive these messages, they do not show up in the group message either. So instead of having one combined group message, I have (4,5,6,etc..) separate threads in my stock messaging app. Verizon Messages is the only apk in the market that has this true Group MMS feature. All group messages show up in a single thread, and when replying to a message, the apk will "Reply to All", sending one MMS to all contacts in the message. Verizon Messages is just plain ugly (and is not compatible with my ICS ROM), and I do not want to use a third party app to group text. The new ICS Messaging app has a consistent UI and I would like to be able to use that for my group messaging.
