Additionally Android needs to support Adnoc mode for the bluetooth stack as
well. This would save the end user from the "pairing/binding" process, one
which is painful and times out asynchronously on some phones.

Subject: [android-discuss] 802.11 Adhoc Mode Support Status in Future
Android Releases
Anyone know the status of 802.11 Adhoc [IBSS] mode support in future
Android releases ?
2.1 on phones do not support it
For Honeycomb on Tablets it is possible but you have to root device and
then apply patch.
This is an extreamely viable part of WiFi / 802.11 support and can be used
for first time connects to configure devices.
[HP uses this for first time printer configuration, other OEMs as well]
Adhoc mode [IBSS] is for peer-to-peer connections, no access point
required.
