In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications. You will be responsible for Java application design and development while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle. In addition, you will provide technical expertise regarding RESTful web service design and development along with overall Java technical oversight. While this is not a dedicated Front-End development role, skills and abilities with JavaScript, Bootstrap, AngularJS, HTML 5 are required. *Core Responsibilities:* - Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance - Provides technical support and guidance for RESTful/Spring web services - Ensures solutions are well engineered, operable, maintainable, and delivered on schedule - Monitors current and future trends, technology and information that will positively affect organizational projects; applies and integrates emerging technological trends to new and existing systems architecture *Required Skills* - 8+ years of hands-on Software Development experience - 5+ years of experience developing Web Service applications using REST - JavaScript, Bootstrap, AngularJS, HTML 5 - Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java 8 platforms is preferred - Functional programming very helpful - Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns. - Profound insight of Java and J2EE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management etc) - Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate) - Experience in utilizing Spring or Hibernate frameworks - Git - JSON - Knowledge of XML/XSDs - PHP Helpful but not required - BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject - Understanding on how to scale applications depending on load - Ability to navigate Unix operating systems *Personal Characteristics* - Ability to rapidly re-prioritize and handle shifting priorities while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and adaptability. - Strong communication skills (written, interpersonal, presentation), with the ability to easily and effectively interact and negotiate with business stakeholders. - Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity, uncertainty, and incomplete information when evaluating alternatives and making recommendations.
