Hi Brian,
 I also met this problem, I have really adjusted u-boot for more than
2MB's kernel image, using the tips "What if I borked my bootloader
environment and don't get a prompt anymore? " from
"http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/U-boot";
 the config file is "gta02-moredrivers-defconfig". the log as following:
