Hi,
I installed Koolu beta 4 image on my Freerunner. I am trying to install apps
to the phone using adb, but it fails and gives weird behavior.
When I tried to install for e.g. FBReaderJ,
$ adb install ~/Download/FBReaderJ.apk
466 KB/s (479392 bytes in 1.003s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/FBReaderJ.apk
It hung at this point and at the same time the phone became unresponsive,
and went to the black screen (the same one at the startup with the glowing
android robot) for a while then came back. The phone became responsive
again, but the app installation didn't go anywhere. I can see that the .apk
package was copied to the phone at data/local/tmp alright.
I followed this post to do the installation (
http://android.koolu.org/pipermail/android-freerunner-koolu.org/2009-March/000610.html
)
I had followed instructions from here (
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Android_on_Freerunner#Remote_access_to_Android_.28adb.29)
while setting up the adb (instead of usb0, the phone appears at eth1 for
me).
I have partitioned the 512MB SD card in two partitions - 100MB vfat
partition and the rest ext3 partition.
running df on "adb shell" gives me:
/dev: 62652K total, 0K used, 62652K available (block size 4096)
/sqlite_stmt_journals: 4096K total, 0K used, 4096K available (block size
4096)
/system: 65536K total, 32912K used, 32624K available (block size 4096)
/sdcard: 102494K total, 45624K used, 56870K available (block size 2048)
/data: 187008K total, 21332K used, 165676K available (block size 4096)
The /sdcard partition size (my vfat partition) seem about right. But don't
know why /data is 187MB while it should be more. (OR this is not that same
ext3 partition I created on microSD, is this one on flash?). In any case, it
has free space, so I don't see why space constraint could be a problem.
Can someone help in understanding what might be happening? What's the
meaning of going to the android black screen - does it mean some kind of
logout?
Is there any other method people have tried to install applications?
Thanks for the gr8 work with the android port for FR.
