The problem might have been the battery too. My battery had died (I had come disillusioned with the freerunner after trying all the other distros and had left it in a corner), and yesterday I was using the BL-5CA from my Nokia 1208, and I did get errors on the FreeRunner about not being able to get battery health information... I booted it with one of the broken image, plug it in the charger and swapped the battery, and this morning the FreeRunner battery was working fine.
