Is this so in reality? Currently what is the missing part that does
not allow you to run it on a x86/i386 machine? I just recently started
to wonder if this was possible so it isn't clear to me yet.

Currently I have compiled (and booted) Android's linux kernel on an
x86 machine. I'll now look into the android emulator code and see what
I can do with it...

Any more information on this subject is highly appreciated.
