Hi,

Bionic depends on the kernel include files and these are also used in
building bionic. If the structures, types etc etc of
your kernel differ from what is used by bionic you can imagine that
things can go wrong.

The update of bionic is a mix of manual changes and changes supported
by tools. check out the following:
search for "Technote android-2.6.31-001: How to regenerate
bionic/libc/common/kernel headers for linux kernel v2.6.31"
from Elvis Dowson in [android-porting].
He explains porting to a newer kernel step by step.
