As I understand it the Android add-ons to the Linux kernel will not be
part of the official Linux kernel tree after 2.6.32. Correct ?

What is the long term expectations on the relationsship between Linux
and Android?

I could see some different scenarios:

- Android and Linux are rejoined.
- Android extensions to the Linux kernel are continously provided as
additions to the Linux kernel. Maintained either by Google or by the
Android community or a combination.
- Linux kernel is adapted as an integral part of Android and the Linux
kernel part of Android is developed and maintained independently of
the Linux kernel.
- ....

I see different PROS and CONS of the above scenarios, which to some
extend is dependent on the perceived scope of Android, i.e. whether
Android is seen as a dedicated smart phone OS and middleware, or it is
seen as a more general vehicle for embedded devices.

Comments and opinios ?

Best regards
Jens Kristian
