I heard the other day that the SurfaceFlinger and WindowManager
concepts of portrait and landscape mode are not necessarily consistent
with the hardware. Wish I could say more on that - I'll try to find
out, or maybe Mathias will come along and explain it.

The good news is that we have a change coming in Cupcake that allows
for correcting any discrepancies between the camera orientation and
display orientation. This allows for use cases such as using the
camera in portrait mode.
