Hello, I was trying to use android for simultaneous record and playback of media. In the case of video, an application which recorded video on one thread with video playback going on in another thread worked fine.
But in the case of audio, the same application did not work. Recording of audio continued, but audio playback stuttered for a second and then halted. The behavior is the same irrespective of whether i use ogg/mp3/amr/wav files for playback. I could see encoder and decoder logs initially, but after a while only the encoder runs. Since the behavior is the same even with Ogg i have a doubt that it could be a hardware/android platform issue. I have tried to bypass audio output by returning success in the HardwareAlsa write function (in order to verify that its not an issue with simultaneous playback and record on hardware). But even this gave the same result. Has anyone faced anything similar? Googling gave the following links, but none of them has been given an answer till now. http://www.talkandroid.com/android-forums/android-videos/2400-simultaneous-video-recording-playback.html http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg50509.html http://www.anddev.org/viewtopic.php?p=28643 http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/dda83b16eda1f848/beb397cbd5ab073d?lnk=raot&pli=1 - suggests starting recording as late as possible, but thats an option because the recorder has to be started first in my case. -Alexy -- unsubscribe: [email protected] website: http://groups.google.com/group/android-porting
