thats expected.

beagleboard on reboot - tries to boot alright?
it keeps looking for booting options over peripheral boot (usb/uart)
or memory (sd-card/nand etc).
if no valid bootoptions are found - it will retry the boot sequence.

so, when u use minicom, beagleboard gives a asic id version of omap
chip over uart (for peripheral boot).,
if you have any flashing tool running, it will wait for this and send
image uart.

 when u get garbage prints, try like plugging in MMC card, it will
recognise it next boot iteration and do regular booting.,
