Hi. I'm new to this group so your patience in supporting a newby is
really appreciated :)

I have a smartbook which runs an Android version derived from a
tablet. The smartbook is equipped with a keyboard and a touchpad and
an (optional) USB mouse. Unfortunately Android is mainly designed for
a touch panel GUI, and it's not very well adapted to a keyboard&mouse
interface. In spite of that, if I plug a mouse to the smartbook a
mouse-cursor arrow appears on the screen and I can use it to access
all of the GUI features. At the same time, the built-in small touchpad
still works as a touchscreen, but it's close to useless like that
(except for the slide functionality). But it's not that convenient to
have an external mouse, so, since the mouse driver is already there
(it must be there, as I can use a USB mouse), I was wondering to
replace the touchscreen functionality with an actual touchpad one,
i.e. a replacement for the mouse. I hope you got my idea.

I'd like to understand about the feasibility of such a change. Any
help is appreciated, including links about how to start approaching
the change.

 thanks
 Fabio
