Hey all, I've been working on this issue for weeks and can't find a solution. I'm hoping someone may have seen this before, or can give me a new place to look.
I've connected a USB ethernet adapter and separately a USB wifi adapter to a beagleboard variant (OMAP3530). Then I startup Android, start wifi and connect to AP if necessary. After I navigate to a web page and download a large file ( > 100k) I notice the speed is extremely slow (10 kbps). If I enter the root console and run TOP, I notice that I/O wait is at 60%-80%. Stopping the transfer, I/O returns to near zero. If I perform a transfer via the root console (I used TCP perf test, wget would work too if you have it) I notice that speed is as expected, no I/O wait posted. This is using Froyo, running on a SLIGHTLY modified 2.6.32 kernel (I have special touchscreen drivers). I am using the TI-specific build (rowboat) and I have posted this in the TI forums. I know it's NOT: - the wifi drivers since it happens with a USB ethernet as well. - the kernel or USB interface, since running performance tests from the root console run at normal speed. - the OMAP DSP or it's drivers, since I've build the non-DSP version of froyo-rowboat and I still see this issue.
