Thanks, but as no-one came with their thoughts we decided it might be
easier to just look at ffmpeg and made a test player using ffmpeg.
The project is in a very early stage. It can be found here:
https://github.com/mikebevz/AFPlayer

It would still be interesting to use Stagefright as I suppose it has some
advantages WRT phone playback, like handling of varying network
connectivity and buffering, that ffmpeg probably hasnt ?

I would still be very thankfull for comments/ideas on
1) the idea of backporting stagefright to 1.6,
2) the idea of embedding (Android 4.0) stagefright (or parts of it) in
Android apps
3) and ffmpeg vs stagefright in general.

For us the exact release date of 4.0 doesent matter, as long as it will be
in 2011.
