Thanks Jay. The idea of noting history of scheduling and performance behavior and anticipating performance needs based on scheduler activity (or some such) has occasionally been considered briefly, but I'm not aware of anything actually designed or implemented. If there's situations where we're missing an opportunity to save power, or are increasing performance too late and missing multimedia-related realtime deadlines, it may be worth pursuing further.
