Uhh... I think thats kind of the point of dmesg heh... its supposed to 
contain information about the boot, and additional kernel output since the 
boot.

there are logs that may contain similar information in /var/log, as well as 
being able to wrap services in LogWrapper to get them to fire up and route 
logging information to a log.
