Hello All,

I am reading the Android 2.3 Compatibility Definition document and have a
question:

Last paragraph of section 3.8.3 (Search) specifies "… but SHOULD include a hard
or soft dedicated search button that can be used any time within any app to
invoke the search framework …"

I am using my personal phone, the Samsung Galaxy SII (I9100) as a reference
implementation. Now this device DOES NOT have a dedicated button to perform
this function. I would understand that "dedicated" means just for that purpose
and nothing else (i.e. not overloaded). How did this device (or others which do
not have the Search button) then pass the CDD?

Before you jump on me, I know that you can PRESS and HOLD the MENU button to
get to the search provider. Are such exceptions really allowed?

Thanks for any insights.

Suman
